Description

This is an early to mid-19th century cottage pair. They have a weatherboarded exterior with a hipped slate roof, and a central brick chimneystack which is topped by eight chimneypots. The cottages are two storeys high with two windows on the front elevation. The windows are 16-pane sashes, set within moulded architraves. Entrances are located in the side elevations. The group value of these cottages lies in their modest vernacular appearance and original condition. Alternatively, descriptions refer to a complete slate roof and intact glazing bars to the sashes, noting a 'front' door on the side elevation, and their recognition as a typical Kentish cottage in its original state.
