The Grapes Public House is an early to mid-19th century corner building. The exterior is stuccoed and three storeys high. It has two sash windows facing Milton Road, and two sashes and one blank window facing Edwin Street. The interior includes a 19th-century bar front. The building is part of a group that includes numbers 153 to 158, the Roman Catholic Church of St John the Evangelist, and the adjoining school. Numbers 154 to 156 within the same group are designated as buildings of local interest.
