Description
Pebbleshore and Over The Top are a pair of 18th-century cottages located on Prospect Road in Sandgate. They were altered in the mid-19th century and stand two storeys tall. The ground floor of Pebbleshore is finished in stucco, while the first floor is weatherboarded. Pebbleshore features a modern tiled roof, whereas Over The Top has a hipped slate roof with a weatherboarded square lookout.
There are five sash windows in total on the upper floor, most of which retain their glazing bars and are set in wooden architraves. On the ground floor, Pebbleshore has two sash windows with verticals only and a simple doorcase on the left side. Over The Top includes two modern windows and a modern door with a weatherhood. The rear elevation of Over The Top is also weatherboarded, while Pebbleshore has two sash windows with intact glazing bars and a first-floor verandah.
Pebbleshore, Over The Top, and West Lawn Cottages are recognized as a group.
