Description

The complex consists of West Wedge, West House, West Lawn, Spanish House, and The Wedge, likely dating to the 18th century but given a 20th-century Spanish style. The building is divided into five sections. The central section is four storeys high and stuccoed, featuring a bracketed cornice and three sash windows with intact glazing bars. A colonnade of six Tuscan columns runs along the first floor. The main entrance is on the first floor, accessible by a flight of stone steps. This entrance is flanked by three-storey stuccoed sections, each with three sash windows featuring glazing bars and shaped gables covered with pantiled roofs. Further flanking wings are also three storeys high, with a parapet, four sash windows with intact glazing bars, and projecting iron balconies. Round-headed windows are located on the ground floor. The group is historically linked to numbers 30 to 34 Sandgate Esplanade.
