Description

Martello Tower No 7 was built in 1806 as part of the coastal defenses. This circular tower is constructed of brick with walls that are 5½ feet to 6 feet thick. The cement coating has mostly peeled off. Inside, there is a central brick pillar with vaulted arches springing from it. The ground floor housed the magazine, while the upper level contained quarters for the garrison, divided into two rooms, with a gun emplacement on the roof. Surrounding the tower is a ditch with ramparts lined with ashlar, and there is a bridge. The tower features two chimneys, and the entrance door is approximately 20 feet above the ground.
