Description
This is a barn located about 50 metres south-east of Stowting Court, dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with some later alterations. The barn is timber framed and weatherboarded, topped with a hipped plain tile roof. On the long west side, there are three small fixed lights. A porch with a hipped canopy is situated at the third bay from the north, and there is a blocked midstrey at the sixth bay from the north. Inside, the barn features eight timber-framed bays, with aisles at the front and rear. It has gunstock-jowled posts resting on wooden cills, arch braces connecting the tie-beams and arcade plates, and curved passing shores. The roof has staggered butt purlins in short lengths that are not associated with the principal posts, and it has been rebuilt towards the south end.
