Description

Cage Farm House is a 17th-century farmhouse, later used as a house, with an addition from the later 17th or 18th century. It is constructed of painted brick and has a plain tile roof. The building follows a lobby entry plan with an added bay to the right. It is two storeys high with attics, and features a hipped roof with gablets. A multiple brick ridge stack is located on the front slope of the roof, to the left of centre, and there is a small gabled dormer window. The windows are irregular in placement, with three casement windows; two 3-light windows flank the stack, and one 2-light window is at the right end. Ground floor windows have segmental heads. A panelled door is set within a painted brick porch, which sits under the stack. A rear lean-to has been added to the left end, built up to two storeys and containing a small brick window in the gable. The interior was only partly inspected, though exposed framing and 18th-century cupboards were noted.
