Description
This is an aisled barn dating from around 1600, located approximately 30 metres east-north-east of Stours Farmhouse. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, with a roof covered in corrugated iron. The barn has five bays that run roughly north to south, with a midstrey on the west side and a lean-to shed at the north end. The structure features jowled posts, and the braces to the tiebeams and arcade plates are mainly straight, although some exhibit irregular and reversed curvature. The arcade plates and wallplates have face-halved and bladed scarfs. The roof is constructed with clasped purlins. Part of the brick base wall is original and built in English bond, but much of it has been renewed at various times.
