Description
No 85 on Church Road is a 17th-century house that has been divided into two separate residences. The building features two storeys and attics, with a front made of red brick and tile-hung sides. It has a steeply pitched hipped-tiled roof adorned with a brick modillion cornice, where the bricks are inserted diagonally, causing the points to protrude. There are two hipped dormers and seven casement windows, most of which have small square leaded panes. The ground floor windows have cambered head linings. The entrance includes a doorcase with a moulded architrave surround, topped by a flat stone hood supported on carved brackets, and a six-panelled door. At the base, there is a stone plinth with flint galleting. No 85 is part of a group with "The Ship Hotel" on High Street.
