Description
Barn Cottage is a house that dates back to the 15th century and was altered in the early 18th century. It features a timber frame with large panel framing and plaster infill, resting on a base of flint and brick. The right end wall has been rebuilt using red brick. The house has a thatched roof and consists of three framed bays. It is two storeys high with a hipped roof, which has a ridge that is higher to the left of the central stack.
On the first floor, there are three wooden casements positioned high under the eaves, resembling semi-dormers. The ground floor has two wooden casements with an off-centre rib and stud door. The right end ground floor bay displays ornamental bracing and has blocked three-light mullioned windows on either side of what appears to have been a doorway or window originally. There is an outshot at the left end, and the stack and outshot at the rear right are integral to the right end wall.
