Description

Nos 2 and 4 on Austen's Lane form one building that likely dates from the 17th century but was rebuilt in the 18th century. The structure is made of light red brick and features segmental arches. It has a tiled roof, and the brickwork is generally brindle. No 2 retains all its windows with glazing bars and has a four-panel door, with the upper two panels glazed and flat arches above. In contrast, No 4 is missing the glazing bars and has a modern two-panel door. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 8 (even) on Austen's Lane, Nos 12 to 20 (even) on King Street, and Nos 13 to 21 (odd) on New Street.
