Description

This is a pair of yellow brick houses dating from circa 1835, located at 19 and 21 New Street. The houses are two storeys high and feature flat brick arches over the windows, with a blind panel in the centre. A prominent feature is the semi-circular rubbed brick arches over the three door openings. Number 19 retains its original six-panel door, while the central passageway has a battened door. Number 21 features a more modern oak door. The windows in Number 19 have two-bay designs, but the glazing bars are missing. The buildings are finished with a parapet and slate roofs. Numbers 13 to 21 (odd), along with numbers 2 to 8 (even) in Austen's Lane, and numbers 12 to 20 (even) in King Street, form a cohesive group.
