Description
14 New Street is a timber-framed house that was refronted in the 18th century. It still retains its bressummer below the first floor, and features a jettied first floor on the northwest front with angle corbelling. The ground floor on the northeast front has been underbuilt. The building is two storeys high with three windows. The ground floor is finished in painted brick, while the upper floor is stuccoed. The first floor has intact glazing bars. There is an early 19th-century shop window with pilasters that have plain caps and plinths, along with an entablature featuring a moulded cornice. The window is divided into three squares. The door is fitted with a shutter and has a bead flush panel below. This property is part of a group that includes numbers 14 to 26 (even).
