Description
The Royal Victoria Hospital, built in 1849, features a design that reflects architectural styles from about 30 years earlier. This building has two storeys and a basement, with the exterior finished in stucco. The front is flanked by composite pilasters and topped with a modillion cornice and a large pediment that includes a circular window in its tympanum. The ground floor windows have architraves supported by voluted consoles, while the first floor has three sash windows with intact glazing bars. Access to the building is via a porch with five steps, which is supported by a pair of twin composite columns. The entrance consists of a six-panel moulded double door, flanked by narrow lights and topped with a large semi-circular fanlight. The property also features area railings and has Victorian additions to the north.
