Description

Nos 37 to 41 Castle Row is a building dating from the 17th century, which was refaced in the 18th century. It is two storeys high with basements, featuring painted brick for Nos 39, 40, and 41, while Nos 37 and 38 are stuccoed. The building has a tiled roof with three brick stacks and five dormers, along with a part stringcourse. Nos 39, 40, and 41 each have one sash window set in moulded architraves with intact glazing bars. In contrast, Nos 37 and 38 have 19th-century casement windows. The doorcases for Nos 39, 40, and 41 are plain, with hoods, console brackets, two steps, and a plinth. Nos 37 and 38 feature doorcases with vestigial stone hoods, decorated console brackets, and four-panelled doors with footscrapers. These buildings form a group with Nos 25 and 26 Castle Street.
