Description

This is an 18th-century building located on the north side of High Street. It is two storeys high with an attic, and is constructed with timber framing and covered with red mathematical tiles. The roof is half-hipped, with a modillion eaves cornice and two dormers, each with a later 19th-century gable. Five sash windows with original glazing bars remain, although a large modern bay window has been added to the east side of the front at ground floor level. The front door is within a doorcase featuring pilasters, a pediment, a segmental fanlight, and a six-panel moulded door, with the top two panels cut away and glazed. Numbers 138 to 142 (even) form a group with numbers 2 and 4/6 West Cross.
