Description
This barn, dating from the 17th century, is located about 20 metres south west of Penstock Hall in East Brabourne. It is timber framed and clad with red brick in English bond, topped with a plain tiled roof that is hipped. The barn features a hipped midstrey and two boarded cart doors at the rear, which faces east. Inside, the barn consists of three bays with aisles and terminal outshots, and it has passing shores to the aisle posts. The roof is a clasped purlin design. This barn is similar in form to another barn located about 10 metres to the east, but the timber used here is generally of poorer scantling and finish, and straighter, suggesting it was built at a later date.
