Description

This is a barn dating from the later 17th century, situated 30 meters north of the main house at Bradbury Farm. It is a three-bay, rear-aisled barn facing south, with its east gable visible from the road. The barn’s timber frame sits on a brick sill and is largely dark weatherboarded, now covered by a steep, half-hipped roof of slates. A double doorway, now fitted with sliding doors, is centrally positioned in the middle bay. The barn features jowled bay- and arcade-posts, although the rear wall posts are unjowled. It has long curved braces to the tie-beams and arcade plate. The roof is a clasped purlin construction with collar trusses, and later-added raking struts. Peninsular sills extend outwards to support the arcade posts.
