Description
No. 54 West Street is an 18th-century house made of brick with a tile roof. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring a symmetrical front with one window above and two windows below on each side of the central doorway. The ground-floor window immediately to the east of the doorway has been bricked up. The dado wall is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with blue headers, topped by a wall of blue headers with flush red dressings. The quoins are vertical, and there are two thin bands on the first floor, with rubbed flat arches over the ground-floor windows. The windows are sashes set in exposed frames. The doorcase features a moulded canopy supported by carved brackets, panelled pilasters, and a seven-panelled door, with three small glazed panels at the top. The house has brick dentil eaves, an old tile roof, and two flat-roofed dormers.
