Description

This is a group value property, consisting of Nos. 23 to 27, Chesil Street. The building dates to the 15th and 16th centuries, originally constructed with a timber frame and old tile roof. The front facade was re-faced in the 19th century with brickwork, although some timber framing remains visible towards the upper section of No. 3. The building has six irregular bays of 19th-century casement windows on the first floor and five similar bays on the ground floor, plus a single sash window. There are three plain doors at ground level. The rear of the building is irregular in shape with visible timber framing around the openings. The interior retains visible timbering on the first floor, and No. 23 features a large open brick fireplace with a wooden lintel.
