Description

BISHOPS WALTHAM ST. GEORGES SQUARE SU 55 17 9/89 Austin and Wyatt 6.3.67 (Estate Agents) GV II

House, now offices. Of C17 origin as a timber frame, but mainly late C18. Walls of brickwork in blue headers, with red dressings; rubbed flat arches, flush 1st floor band, brick dentil eaves cornice: Flemish bond with blue headers below ground-floor cill level. Tile roof. Symmetrical north front elevation of two storeys three windows. Sashes in exposed frames, triple at each side. Doorcase of the Doric dentilled Order, with open pediment, fluted pilasters, arched opening with plain fanlight, panelled reveals, and 6-panelled door. A rear wing has exposed framing. Inside, there is an original plain staircase, panelled doors in architraves, dado panelling in a rear room, and a hall archway.
