Description
Howard's House is a former house now used as offices, dating from the 17th century with alterations from the 18th and 20th centuries. The building has rendered street facades and red brick on the principal elevation, topped with a pantile roof. It stands two storeys high and features two first-floor windows facing the street. The off-centre door is flanked by pilasters and supports an open pediment. The elevation has four bays that are set at right angles to the street line. The extreme left has a two-leaf door with a two-light fanlight above it. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, raised brick surrounds, and aprons. In the right-hand bay, there are 20th-century French doors. A brick stringcourse and cornice with a fascia run along the top. A central sundial dated 1840 is also present. The roof is hipped with a small flat-roofed dormer, and inside, there is a fine staircase with open-work panels.
