Description

The Smithy is a 17th-century cottage located in Micheldever. It features a timber-frame structure with brick infill, covered in pebble-dash, and has a thatched roof. The building consists of four bays and is two storeys tall, standing on a plinth. It is attached at the right end to another building numbered 89. The entrance door is positioned to the left of the centre and is a 19th-century four-panel door, sheltered by a 19th-century porch with ornate brackets and a roof covered in fish scale tiles. To the left of the door is a two-light casement window, while to the right, at a higher level, there are three and two-light 19th-century casement windows. On the first floor, there are four small, regular 18th-century two-light leaded casement windows. The roof is hipped, with the right end abutting building 89. There is a ridge stack to the left of the door and a large gable end stack at the right end, which is incorporated into building 89.
