Description
Micheldever County Primary School is a school building dating from around 1850, likely designed by John Colson. It is constructed of flint rubble with brick dressings and has a tiled roof. The building is single storey with a five-window range, featuring a tower on the right and a crosswing on the left. The central two windows are under a gablet with carved bargeboards and are pointed cross windows, with lozenge panes at the top and larger panes below, flanked by pointed panes and a buttress between them. The other windows are two-light casements. The crosswing includes a large half-hipped porch with a pointed door and a single light beside it, along with a small pointed window in the gable. The roof is steeply pitched with bargeboards. The tower, built around 1870 to commemorate the death of a Baring, has lower stages made of flint and brick, with stone offsets at the top stage of brick featuring a clock in a panel of faience. Above this, there are brick machicolations leading to a short tiled steeple with a gablet that contains a trefoil bell opening. The building is included for its group value.
