Description

This is a house, now divided into cottages, dating from the 16th and 18th centuries. It is timber-frame in construction with colour-washed brick and plaster infill, and has a thatched roof. The building is L-shaped, with a two-bay road front and single-storey extension to the left. Behind the left bay is another two-bay wing, with an 18th-century bay added to its end. The front has a high plinth and side-on steps leading to the door of number 63. There is a 20th-century door to the left of centre, with a baffle entry. Each side of the front has a three-light casement window, with a smaller three-light casement window above on the left. The roof is hipped and has a large ridge stack off-centre. The left extension is brick and tiled, with a 20th-century casement window. The right side of the building has a two-storey, three-bay rear wing, featuring a tiled, gabled timber porch in the centre. To the left of the porch are two two-light casement windows, and to the right are two 18th-century two-light casement windows. The rear wing’s roof is hipped at one end, with a large gable stack, and a smaller stack to the right of the centre bay.
