Description
Heather Cottage is a cottage dating from the 17th century or earlier. It is located on Church Street, Micheldever. The structure is timber-frame with colour-washed brick infill, rubble flint with brick dressings, and weatherboarding above, with a thatched roof. The cottage is three bays wide, with a fourth bay added in the 18th century as a store. It is a one-and-a-half storey building set on a plinth. A 20th-century thatched timber and brick porch extends outward on the left side of the third bay from the left. There are three 19th-century two-light casement windows. The right-hand bay contains a stable-type door and a two-light casement window. Above each bay is an eyebrow dormer with 19th-century six-pane single sash windows, although the dormer on the right-hand side is at a lower level. The roof is half-hipped, with a decorated ridge piece; a ridge stack was originally external but is now located within the 18th-century bay.
