Description
Down Cottage is a 17th-century cottage constructed with a timber frame and plaster infill, which is encased in brick and rendered at the front. The roof is thatched. The building has two bays and two stories. A central 18th-century planked door is set within an open gabled tiled porch. On either side of the door, there are two 19th-century two-light casement windows. Above the left side, there is an 18th-century three-light casement window. The roof is hipped to the right and features a decorated ridge piece. The left end of the cottage has an external 18th-century stack and a bread oven built onto the gable end. At the rear, the roof has an outshot.
