Description

The barn at Lower Lanham Farmhouse is an 18th-century structure. It features a timber frame that is weatherboarded and sits on a brick plinth. The roof is thatched, with tiled valleys leading to porches. The barn has nine bays and is aisled, with an outshot at each end. There is a thatched midstray porch at the third bay from one end, which includes a large opening, a smaller opening to the center bay, and open bays at either end. Inside, the roof has queen struts, some arched struts, and arched braces connecting the tiebeams and aisle plates, with additional struts supporting the aisle. The roof is hipped and sweeps down at each end.
