3/1 Bighton Manor House 5.12.55 (formerly listed as The GV II* Manor House)
House. Circa 1675, remodelled c1950. Brick with old plain tiled roof. 5 bay Cl7 house with whole of rear rebuilt c1950, leaving only the front facade and rooms behind, but gables and roof rebuilt sympathetically. Front 2 storey and attic, 5 bays, on proecting plinth, with projecting central bay. Raised brick quoins at corners and on projecting bay. Central bay has C19 half-glazed door in wide stone surround with broken pediment. Above on 1st floor and eaves level string courses, carried through. 1st floor round headed sash in square headed stone surround. Door and window flanked by small vertically set bulls-eye windows in stone surrounds. Bay crowned by Dutch gable with small bulls-eye window over square stone panel with an unknown coat of arms. Either side on each floor 2 16-pane sashes in raised brick surrounds with gauged brick heads. lst floor string and moulded and dentilled wooden eaves. Steep pitch roof with large external gable end stacks.
