Description
White House is a house dating from the mid-17th century, with alterations and additions made in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. It is constructed of painted brick and features a pantiled roof, raised brick coped tumbled gables, and two brick gable stacks. The front has three bays and two storeys, along with a cellar. There is a dentillated brick eaves course, and brick pilasters at each end of the facade. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door with a plain overlight, surrounded by a 19th-century moulded frame with a flat hood supported by large scrolled brackets. On either side of the entrance are 20th-century canted glazing bar sash bays. The first floor has three 20th-century glazing bar sash windows set into the eaves. To the left, there is a lower two-storey, two-bay range that originated in the 17th century but has been significantly modified in the 20th century. The interior of this left side includes a mid-17th-century roughly chamfered beam. To the right, there is a mid-18th-century corner cupboard featuring decorated spandrels and a keystone.
