Description
No. 1 is a house dating from around 1800, accompanied by a low garden wall. The building is constructed of red brick with slightly pale headers in Flemish bond and features a pantiled roof with raised brick coped gables that have two gable stacks. It has an L-shaped plan and is two storeys high with a three-bay front. The facade includes a first-floor band and a dentillated eaves course, with the central bay slightly projecting. The entrance consists of a central six-panelled door with a plain overlight, which is covered by a 20th-century wooden porch. On either side of the door are single glazing bar sash windows, with three similar windows on the first floor.
In front of the house, there is a low brick wall with a rounded top, and the side walls are ramped to connect with the house. At the rear right-hand side, there is a lower two-storey, two-bay wing and a single-storey, two-bay shop, both featuring brick dentillated eaves and brick coped gables. The wing has a segmental-headed doorway, with a two-light glazing bar sliding sash window to the right and a smaller similar window above at the eaves. The shop has a plain door with a barred overlight and a four-paned sash shop window, both adorned with moulded wooden surrounds and supported by four carved brackets that hold up a continuous cornice.
