COLLEGE STREET (south side) No 8

GV II* Late C18. Three storeys. Painted brick, with brick dentil cornice. Old tile roof. Two windows and door with moulded surround, two fluted brackets and delicate moulded dentil cornice over. Angular bay window on first floor. Modern window on ground floor. Sash windows with glazing bars. Panelled door with panelled reveals. Plaque over door commemorating Jane Austen, who spent the last few weeks of her life here being treated for a short illness from which she died on 8th July 1817.
