Description
No. 3 Newbegin is a late 18th century building located in Beverley. It is two storeys high, constructed of brick, and features a pantile roof with two dormers that have glazing bars. The façade includes three windows with near flush frames, sashes that have been reglazed with glazing bars, and are topped with gauged brick heads and painted stone cills. The entrance has a wooden doorcase with an architrave and chambranles, enriched consoles, a frieze, and a dentil cornice that is broken over the consoles. An open pediment above the door contains a bold cartouche, which appears to be part of a conservative 19th century restoration, adorned with carved drops of fruit and flowers. The building also features a dentil eaves cornice. Inside, there is a mid-18th century staircase with a closed string, turned balusters, a moulded handrail, and plain newels with drop finials.
