Description
Deane Cottage is a cottage dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 20th centuries. It features a timber frame with brick infill and additions, topped with a thatched roof. The building is two stories high with an attic and consists of three bays, including a smoke bay. To the right, there is a weatherboarded store that extends out, and to the left, there is a set-back bay added in the 20th century. The entrance is a 20th-century door located under an open thatched-roof porch in the smoke bay, which is positioned to the right of the center. The cottage has three irregular three-light casement windows. On the first floor, there is a small two-light casement and a three-light casement in each bay, with a 20th-century eyebrow dormer featuring a three-light casement above the main bays. A large ridge stack is situated above the door, and there is another stack in front of the ridge on the left end of the older part of the cottage.
