Description
Dean House is a late 19th-century brick house with a slate roof, featuring a three-bay by two-bay 18th-century structure and a rear service wing. The front of the house is two stories high and has three bays on a plinth, with a full-height bay added to the left end in the mid-19th century. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door that is half-glazed, topped with an arched fanlight, and has panelled reveals along with a 20th-century Queen Anne style hood. In front, there are six Portland stone steps with iron handrails and turned timber newels. Each side of the entrance features a 16-pane sash window with a rubbed brick arch, a Portland stone sill, and an awning for the blind box. On the first floor, there are three narrower sash windows of a similar style. The house has wide eaves and cast iron guttering adorned with lion head medallions, along with hipped roofs and symmetrical stacks positioned behind the ridge. The 19th-century bay includes a window on each floor and a half-hipped roof. Inside, the ground floor front room showcases an 18th-century interior with panelling and a fireplace decorated with Delft tiles.
