Description
This is a small rectangular building designed as a fire station, constructed in 1881. It features brick with some flint and has a half-hipped tile roof. The front wall is made of red brickwork in Flemish bond and includes a deep eaves fascia adorned with a band of curved dentils. There are side pilasters with caps and bases, and a wide opening that contains a boarded double door. Above the doorway is a recessed panel with chamfered edges and a cambered top, featuring a keystone and a stone plaque that reads: "Erected by the Bailiff and Burgesses of New Alresford AD 1881." The side walls are composed of flint and brick rubble, with brick quoins, a base, and a dentilled eaves fascia. A low wall connects the building to a double gateway, which is flanked by two cast-iron piers that are panelled and have moulded caps. The wrought-iron gates and rails are later additions. The structure has non-conforming additions on the north and east sides.
