Description
This is an 18th-century residential terrace, originally built as a granary. The building comprises four properties at numbers 2, 4, 6, and 8, The Soke, New Alresford. It is timber-framed with brick infilling, and has a tile roof. The structure stands on a brick base. The building is two storeys high, with a cellar on the lower ground floor, and has four windows across the front. A large hipped tile roof covers an exposed timber frame of eight bays, with painted brickwork between the timbers. The windows are regularly spaced, small, and consist of coupled casements. The front doors are plain. At the rear, the lower ground floor is visible, showing brickwork. Numbers 2 and 4 have a wooden balcony to the middle floor, while numbers 6 and 8 have slate cladding. A brick inscription "FW 1765" (Whitear-miller) is visible on the front of the building.
