Description

This building, known as Elizabeth Viney Antiques and John Robinson, Butcher, is a pair of shops that were once a house. It dates back to the 17th century and was encased and extended in the 18th century, with further division occurring in the 19th century. The structure has a timber-frame core, which is encased in brick, with some parts colourwashed and others pebbledashed. The roof is covered with old plain tiles.

The original 17th-century section is two stories high and has three bays, with wings extending to the rear of each end bay. An 18th-century bay with an archway has been added to the left. The right bay features a 19th-century shop front, which includes pilasters supporting a cornice and a bowed shop front with 16 panes. In the center, there is a 20th-century shop front with three large panes, alongside a 20th-century half-glazed door with a glazed light beside it. Above each of these shop fronts are 19th-century three-light casements, each containing two panes with small triangular panes in the corners.

The added left bay has an archway with 19th-century double doors and a six-pane sash window above. The building has dentilled eaves, and the roof of the original part is hipped, with a ridged roof extending from the left hip over the added bay. A ridge stack is located to the right of the center and on the rear left wing.
