Description

The Vine Inn is an early 18th-century inn, extended in the early 19th century and altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of colourwashed brick with an old plain tile roof. The building is 3 storeys high and originally 5 bays wide by 2 bays deep, with a 2-storey bay added to the right and later additions to the rear. A central 19th-century door is now flanked by half-glazed panels and a late 19th-century wide canted bay with a flat roof, connecting them. The first floor has five 18th-century 12-pane flush-frame sash windows with rubbed brick heads and raised keystones. The second floor has a 2-light casement window on each side of the centre. A toothed cornice and overhanging eaves are present on the hipped roof, with a stack on the rear wall at each end. The 19th-century bay has a door to the left and a large tripartite sash window above, with a 12-pane segmental head sash, and an end stack.
