Description

The Manor House is a building dating back to the 16th century, with significant remodelling and extensions in the 17th and early 18th centuries, and a new facade applied in the early 19th century. It is constructed of flint, with stone and brick dressings, and the front is plastered. The main building is two storeys high, comprising three bays and a chimney bay, with a service wing added to the rear of the lower left end and a bay added to the upper right end in the early 18th century.

The front elevation has two storeys and five bays. The three left bays, including the chimney bay, feature stucco pilasters between them, topped by a moulded cornice and a low parapet. The other two bays have plain pilasters and boxed eaves. An 18th-century five-panel door is set within a stucco doorcase of pilasters and cornice in the chimney bay, situated in the second bay from the left. Above it is a 12-pane sash window. The bays on either side have 16-pane sashes; the ground floor sashes have stucco hoods above. At the left end of the second bay from the right is a 20th-century reproduction of an 18th-century door within a timber doorcase, featuring pilasters, brackets, and a hood, above a two-light casement window and to the right a 12-pane sash with narrow edge panes. In the right bay are two 16-pane sashes, the upper one piercing the eaves and set low to the left, alongside an 18th-century cellar light. The roof is hipped with a large ridge stack in the centre.

Inside, early 18th-century features remain, including early 18th-century staircases behind the left bay and the right door. There are also old quarry and stone flagged floors, and doors with wrought iron hinges.
