Description

Kings Head House, Lane House, Lane Antiques, and Leyanne Salon is a house that was formerly an inn, along with two shops. It dates from the late 17th century, with an 18th-century refronting and a 19th-century addition. The building is constructed of brick and stuccoed brick, topped with an old plain tile roof. It is two storeys high and features a three-bay structure from the 17th century, with an 18th-century bay added to the left. To the right, there is a four-bay, 2½ storey block that includes a house and shop, along with a low two-storey, two-bay building from the 19th century.

The late 17th-century section has a wide segmental central opening with a pair of 18th-century six-pane doors, which are top-lit and situated under an early 19th-century porch supported by square posts and a moulded hood. Above this, there is a blind circular opening. On both floors, large 16-pane sash windows with rubbed brick arches are located on each side. Each end of the building features giant pilasters and a wide bold timber cornice. The roof is hipped to the left.

The left bay is lower and slightly set back, featuring a 16-pane sash window with a rubbed brick head and corner pilaster. The right part of the building includes a giant pilaster in the centre and at each end, with a central door and sash windows on either side, as well as two sashes above for the house and a door with an early 20th-century shop front with two sashes above for the shop. The first floor has a tile band and stucco hoods over the sashes and doors, along with a similar cornice. There are three 19th-century hipped dormers on the roof, which is hipped to the right with a central stack and a stack at the left end. The right part also features a central stucco porch with a glazed door, paired sashes to the right, and a similar arrangement above, all with matching hoods. The roof continues to be hipped to the right with a central chimney featuring four moulded brick stacks.
