Description
This is a group of three buildings: two cottages and a garage, located on Old London Road in Stockbridge. The core of the building dates back to the 17th century, with significant alterations and extensions made in the 18th and 19th centuries. The buildings were originally a public house and stables.
The structure has a timber-frame core. This was later encased in colourwashed brick with bands and squares of flint, and the first floor is tilehung. A central bay features weatherboard cladding around an arch. The building is one and a half storeys high, with four bays to the left, originally two cottages and a public house. The central bay is open to the rear, and the three bays to the right form a garage, formerly stables. There are 20th-century doors under pent-roofed hoods at each end of the right bays, along with a three-light casement window. The first floor has two-light casement windows at each end and three-light casements in the centre. The central bay has a casement window on the first floor, set within the weatherboard cladding over the arch. The right bay has blank brickwork, with double doors in the other bays and a three-light casement window above the right doors. The roof is hipped to the right and features a ridge stack between the cottages.
