Description

No. 42 is a lodge located on the Bossington Estate, dating from the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of squared knapped flint with brick dressings and features a plain tile roof. It has a T-shaped plan with a main range that is two stories high, and a projecting single-story wing at the front. On the left side of the wing, there is an outshot arcaded porch with a door set into the side of the wing. The front of the wing includes a canted hip-roofed bay. At the junction between the main body and the wing, there is a diagonal-set chimney that features an arched niche on the ground floor, a recessed diamond panel above, and a large rectangular brick stack with three moulded brick shafts. The building also has moulded timber eaves and bargeboards.
