Description
No. 40 is a lodge located in Bossington, dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of coursed flint with brick dressings and has an old plain tile roof. The building is one and a half storeys high and features a two-bay outshot along the road. The front facing the drive has a projecting gabled porch made of carved timber on a brick plinth wall, with the entrance situated on the left side. To the right of the entrance is a single leaded light, and in the right bay, there is a two-light casement window. Above the roof, there is a gabled dormer featuring knapped flint and brick in a criss-cross pattern, along with a single leaded light and decorative bargeboards. At the right end of the building, there is a single moulded brick chimney stack, with a paired similar stack located at the center behind the ridge. The left end has a rectangular pent-roofed bay with leaded lights and ornate end bargeboards.
