Description
Vine Cottage, formerly known as Keith Bros Wine Shop, is a cottage that dates back to the 16th century, with an extension from the 18th century. It features a timber-frame structure with colour-washed brick infill and additional sections, topped with a thatched roof. The building is oriented towards the road and consists of a two-bay 16th-century section, with an added bay at the road end and an outshot bay at the far end from the 18th century, making it two stories tall.
The entrance is a planked door located in the road end bay, flanked by one or two-light casement windows on either side. In the road end 16th-century bay, there are two two-light casements, and one in the narrow bay, along with a door in the outshot. On the first floor, there are two two-light casements in each bay and a window in the outshot. The roof is half-hipped at the road end and sweeps down at the far end. There is a stack located at the inner end of the 18th-century bay and another at the far end of the ridge. Originally, the road end featured a bowed shopfront from around 1900, with bullseyes beside it and casements above.
