Description

Lavender Cottage is a 18th century cottage located in Houghton. It is constructed from rendered cob and features a thatched roof with old plain tiles. The cottage is positioned with its end facing the road and the rear facing a lane. It is 1 and a half storeys high and consists of three bays, with a 19th century lean-to at the rear and weatherboarded sheds at the far end along the lane. The garden front has three-light casement windows in the end bay and French windows in the center, with a two-light eyebrow dormer above. The roof is half-hipped, with a chimney stack at the far end and another on the road side of the center, while the roof over the road bay is tiled. The cottage is included for its group value.
