Description

Marwin Cottage is a 17th-century cottage, later encased in 18th-century fabric. It has a timber-frame core and chequer brickwork, covered by a thatched roof. The cottage, originally a pair, now presents as a single dwelling. It ends on the road, with a 1 1/2-storey, 4-bay C20 lean-to porch at the road-end bay, containing a door. A two-light casement window with a segmental head is in the narrow central bay, and a three-light casement of a similar style is in the far bay. Each of the other bays (excluding the far centre bay) features a two-light casement window within an eyebrow dormer. The roof is half-hipped at the road end and hipped at the far end, featuring a ridge piece. Chimneys are located between the centre and end bays and on the far hip.
