Description

Vine Cottage is an early 19th-century house located on Penton Lane in Penton Grafton. It is constructed of flint and brick with a tile roof. The symmetrical south front has two storeys and originally three windows, though the central window opening is now filled with a decorative panel of blue header bricks. The roof is plain with a catslide at the rear. The walls are of horizontal flint panels laid in courses of squared, knapped flints, with brick quoins, bands, and cambered arches over the ground-floor windows. Casement windows are present. A plain doorway is topped by a tiled hood on posts, and it now has a 20th-century half-glazed door. A single-storeyed service wing, built of brick and tile, extends westwards from the northwest corner of the main building.
