Description
This is a barn located 30 meters east of Manor Farmhouse, dating from around 1600. It features walls made of header bond brick and a timber-frame structure topped with an old plain tile roof. The barn is a five-bay aisled design, notable for its great width. There are double doors in the central bays on both sides, along with ventilation slits at the ends, and a 20th-century door in one end. The roof is half-hipped and constructed with timber scantling. Inside, the barn has a Queen-strut roof supported by straight braces to the aisle plates and tie beams. It includes massive posts resting on padstones, with ties connecting the posts to the tops of the walls and struts leading to the principal rafters. There are two sets of purlins positioned above and below the aisle plate, and wind braces are present on the upper purlins in the central bay.
