Description

Forge Cottage is a cottage that dates from the 17th century, with early 19th-century elements and a late 20th-century extension. It is a timber-framed building featuring a cross-wing at the east end, constructed with mixed exterior materials and topped with a thatched roof. The cottage has one storey and an attic, with irregularly placed windows. The roof is half-hipped at three gables and hipped at the west, featuring eyebrow dormers and eaves that are raised above the upper windows of the 20th-century (north) section. The exposed frame includes mostly plastered infill, with some panels made of brick and flint bands that have been painted, as well as a 20th-century unit of painted brickwork. The windows are casements, and the doors are plain.
